My trademark application received an examination objection

Asked by Ooty Man on 15-06-2026 02:00 PM
Question:
The Trademark Registry has issued an objection to my application. Does this mean my trademark has been rejected?
Answer:
An examination objection is not necessarily a final rejection. A written reply must be filed within the prescribed time, addressing the grounds mentioned in the examination report. Depending on the objection, evidence of use, distinctiveness, honest adoption or differences from cited marks may be submitted. The Registry may accept the reply, schedule a hearing or refuse the application. Missing the reply deadline can adversely affect the application.
