Question and answer

Question:
The builder promised to hand over my apartment last year, but construction is still incomplete. I am paying both rent and loan EMI. What remedy is available?
Answer:
Review the sale agreement, promised possession date, delay clauses, payment schedule and project approvals. A written demand may be issued seeking possession, delay compensation, interest or refund, depending on the circumstances. Remedies may be available before the Real Estate Regulatory Authority, Consumer Commission or civil court. The appropriate forum depends on project registration, contractual terms and the relief required.
